Australia, officially known as the Commonwealth of Australia, is a country that includes the mainland of the Australian continent, the island of Tasmania, and numerous smaller islands. It is the sixth-largest country in the world by total area. Its neighboring nations include Indonesia, East Timor, and Papua New Guinea to the north; the Solomon Islands and Vanuatu to the northeast; and New Zealand to the southeast.

Intakes

Australian universities typically have two major intakes: February and July. Some universities also offer additional intakes in September and November.

  • It is recommended to begin your application process 7–8 months before the desired intake.
  • Application processing times usually range between 4 to 6 weeks.

Entry Requirements

Undergraduate Programs:

  • A strong academic record in your High School Certificate or equivalent (12 years of schooling).
  • Some programs, such as Computing or Engineering, may require Mathematics and/or Science as prerequisites.
  • English Proficiency: Minimum IELTS score of 6.0.

Postgraduate Programs (Master’s):

  • A solid academic background with a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution.
  • Relevant work experience (helpful but not always mandatory).
  • For MBA programs at certain universities, work experience is often a requirement in addition to a Bachelor’s degree.
  • English Proficiency: Minimum IELTS score of 6.0.

Scholarship Opportunities

Australia offers a wide range of scholarships, grants, and bursaries to provide financial support for your studies. These opportunities are made available by the Australian Government, educational institutions, and various public and private organizations. While many scholarships are open to students from all nationalities, each scholarship has specific conditions set by the providing institution or organization. Applications must be submitted directly to the respective scholarship provider.

VISA Requirements

The type of student visa required depends on your selected course of study. Here are the key requirements you typically need to fulfill:

  • Possess an electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (eCoE) certificate.
  • Satisfy the Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) criteria.
  • Demonstrate sufficient funds to cover airfares, tuition fees, and living expenses.
  • Provide proof of English language proficiency.
  • Meet health and character assessment requirements.
  • Hold acceptable Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC).
